SALENDINE Nook pupils stranded in Florida because of volcano ash will be arriving home tomorrow.

The group of 30 students will be landing at Heathrow at 5am after managing to secure a flight.

The news will come as a big relief for the school after it was forced to shell out £3,000-a-day to keep its pupils in a hotel while the ash cloud continued to wreak havoc across the globe this week.

The pupils were on a trip to Disney’s All Star Music Resort in Florida when they were left unable to jet back home.

Their airline Continental advised them to transfer the large party to Houston where they would be unable to secure a flight home at the weekend.

But with no guarantee of food or acommodation, associate headteacher Andrew Foster was concerned the move to Houston could put the student’s welfare at risk.

Now, as flight bans across the world are lifted, the school has confirmed the pupils will touch down tomorrow.
