A YOUNG driver who was seriously injured in a crash in Lepton is in a stable condition.
The Dalton 18-year-old suffered serious head and facial injuries after his car plunged into a field in Lepton shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
He was travelling in his VW Corrado on the A642 from Grange Moor when the car veered off the road, crashed through a fence and went into a field.
He was trapped inside for 30 minutes before being freed by fire crews.
An ambulance took him to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary before he was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.
His condition was described as "stable and comfortable" on Thursday.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident.
