A COMMUNITY soccer tournament takes place in the Holme Valley tomorrow.

The Upperthong Tigers will host their annual Under- 15s 11-a-side tournament at the Sands recreation ground, off Huddersfield Road at Holmfirth.

Two teams from the Tigers will compete, along with two teams from Dalton Dynamos, Lepton Highlanders, Netherton, Longcroft Lions, Shelley, Batley and Darfield.

All will be vying for the Co-op Trophy.

For those who are not playing there will be attractions including a bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, stalls and refreshments.

There will be a fundraising ‘duck egg’ race. The ‘eggs’ – actually ping pong balls – can be bought and will be released into the River Holme. The owner of the first egg to reach the finish line will win £100.

The money raised from the day will go towards buying equipment for the Tigers team and paying for a trip to Holland next Easter.

The day also aims to bring the community together and recruit new Tigers.
