YORKSHIRE Water has given £250 to a Holmfirth women's choir.

Vocal Expressions Ladies Choir has 50 members of all ages.

The cash comes as part of the company's Employee Donation Scheme, whereby any YW employee can apply for a grant to support a charity or organisation that they themselves are involved with.

The scheme works very simply and is just one part of the company's extensive community affairs programme.

In this case, YW scientist and second soprano Dianne Robinson applied for a company grant to help provide the choir with new music, and also to support the group with its fundraising efforts.

The latest was to help pay for a trip to the Ukraine, to return a visit made by the National Choir of Ukraine, who came here last year.
