He may be tiny but he had a huge reaction when he came to Huddersfield.

For clubbers could hardly believe their eyes when diminutive actor Verne Troyer popped into Five Bar on Cross Church Street in the early hours of Thursday.

It’s freshers week at the University of Huddersfield and Verne was there to promote the bar’s Wednesday student nights called Rehab.

He set off to Huddersfield at 9pm on Wednesday after spending all day filming Celebrity Juice with Keith Lemon.

And American Verne – best known for his role as Mini Me in the Austin Powers comedy films – made a grand entrance despite his 2ft 8ins stature.

Verne had given a warning he was on his way, tweeting: “Late tonight I’ll be at @fivebarhud. Who’s coming out?”

Five owner Mark Hollingsworth said: “Verne is only across here in the UK for a couple of weeks so we were very lucky to get him.

“He pulled up as everyone was queuing to get in and people simply couldn’t believe it was him – they thought at first he must be a lookalike. It was absolute chaos.”

But Verne took it in his tiny stride, getting a ride on the shoulders of his minder to make an entrance the clubbers will long remember.
