STEPHEN Barraclough thought he was seeing things when he spotted the world’s most famous ocean liner sinking in a Colne Valley garden.

The 73-year-old looked out from his home in Longwood to see the great ship a few hundred yards away.

“It was the strangest looking thing,” he said.

“I couldn’t see it being anything other than a ship because it really did give the impression of being the back end of a ship stuck up in the air.”

In fact, the strange object in a garden on Longwood Edge was an inflatable slide.

Stephen said: “It was one of those bouncy castle slides, they must have hired it for the weekend.

“Top marks to the designer because it had me fooled.”

The inflatable Titanic first appeared in Longwood on Saturday but – like the great liner itself – it has disappeared.
