A FARM shop has won another prize for its tasty pork sausages.

Hinchliffe's Farm Shop at Netherton won the prize for the champion traditional pork sausage at the West Midlands Awards for Excellence in Meat Production.

The competition was held in Coventry and organised by the Coventry and District Butchers' Association and the Meat and Livestock Commission. Hinchliffe's sausages were awarded a maximum 100 points in the competition, which attracted more than 100 entries from as far afield as Durham, Wales and Essex.

Simon Haigh, a partner at Hinchliffe's Farm Shop, said: "The sausages are made to a secret recipe, but the method of making them is just as important as the ingredients."

He said the farm shop made about half a ton of the sausages every week, adding: "Our real judges are the customers."

Now, the trophy winners are preparing for another tilt as some silverware.

Staff will be defending the title they have won for the past three years for the best pork sausage when they compete in the Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers' annual show at Bradford next month.
