A TOP conductor has agreed to perform at a Huddersfield concert.

World-famous conductor Prof David King will direct the Brighouse and Rastrick Band at a concert arranged by Gledholt Male Voice Choir at Huddersfield Town Hall. The concert, in support of Mirfield’s Hollybank Trust, also features the Marsh Ladies Choir.

Australian-born Prof King is one of today’s most dynamic figures in the world of brass and is a successful conductor on the concert and contest platform.

The concert, on Saturday at 7.15pm, will be attended by the Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Eric Firth.

Marsh Ladies Choir’s musical director Ian Abbott will be organist.

Raj Beadle, chairman of Gledholt Male Voice Choir, said: “Ticket sales are going really well and it would be wonderful to have a capacity audience, thereby making it possible for the choir to donate as much as possible to this very worthy cause.”

Hollybank Trust educates and cares for children, young people and adults with profound disabilities.

Gledholt has also organised a music festival in the Piazza, which features the talents of local bands and singers.

This is free and runs from 9.30am until midday on Saturday.
