HUDDERSFIELD Golf Club’s Sue Johnson has just landed the top role in women’s golf.

She is to be the next President of the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA).

Sue, of Birkby Road, has extensive experience of golf administration and will oversee the major changes planned for English amateur golf.

In November, the proposed merger of the EWGA and the English Golf Union (EGU) will be decided at their general meetings. If approved, Sue will be one of two presidents of a single organisation which will represent all English amateur golfers.

Interim chairman Sylvia Perrins said: “I am delighted that Sue has agreed to be the President-elect for the future organisation.

“It is important that the new President commands respect among the golfing community and Sue’s background and experience will do exactly that.”
