A WOMAN aged 32 will fight the Colne Valley seat for the Tories at the next General Election.

Amanda Harland promised to fight for people in the constituency to get a fair deal, whether from Kirklees Council or the Government.

She is a councillor in Wantage, Oxfordshire, and has a background in marketing and PR.

Her present job is at the Oxford University Society.

Miss Harland said she was delighted to be selected.

She added: "As an experienced local councillor and campaigner, I am very aware of the problems that communities face and the challenges that everyday life often brings.

"I believe in action, not words, and will work to ensure that the voice of the people of Colne Valley is heard in the town hall and Whitehall."

She and husband Adam plan to move into the constituency.

Miss Harland grew up in Buckinghamshire and studied economics at Trinity and All Saints College, Horsforth, Leeds.

Her hobbies include painting, walking, swimming and drama.
