THE NATIONAL co-chairman of the Conservative Party was in Kirklees to speak to voters.

Dr Liam Fox visited Dewsbury and Holmfirth.

He arrived at the Savile Town Community Centre in Dewsbury and met leader of Kirklees Council Conservative party Clr Robert Light.

Clr Light is also Conservative Parliamentary spokesman for Batley and Spen and the area's prospective Parliamentary candidate.

Dr Fox also met Dewsbury Conservative Parliamentary spokesman Sayeeda Warsi, community leaders and Conservative candidates standing for the local Kirklees Council elections in June.

In Holmfirth Dr Fox met Amanda Harland, Conservative Parliamentary spokeswoman for the Colne Valley and prospective Parliamentary candidate.

He also met Andrew Bray, president of Holme Valley Business Association.

Holme Valley parish councillor Royston Rogers, who is standing for Lindley ward, said: "Dr Fox seemed pleased with the efforts being made in Holmfirth to cut crime, so it was nice for him to meet the people working for his party."
