A TORY has been kicked off Mirfield Town Council because she has not been to enough meetings.
From a possible 18 meetings in the last six months, Battyeford representative Clr Beverley Warby has not attended one.
Her seat, along with that of fellow Conservative town councillor Sandra Goldthorpe - who quit last week - will now be up for grabs.
But Clr Warby will remain a Kirklees councillor for Mirfield.
The British National Party is believed to be considering calling for by-elections and targeting both seats.
The party already has one town councillor, after former Tory Roger Roberts defected last year.
Clr Warby receives £11,405 a year as a councillor and a further £1,900 as chair of the Standards Committee for Kirklees Council. Out of three meetings of this committee since she took over she has not attended one.
Tory leader Clr Robert Light, prospective Parliamentary candidate for Batley and Spen, said Clr Warby had ill recently and had been in hospital.
He said: "Clr Warby has had quite severe health problems over the last few months. I think everybody with the Town Council and the Conservative Party would extend their support to her at this time.
"She is determined to do as much as possible within Kirklees Council and we look forward to seeing her after her recovery."
The Examiner tried to contact Clr Warby and left a message for her to contact us, but she did not respond.
