HOLMFIRTH tourist information centre is in the running for an industry award.

It will go up against six other centres for the Yorkshire Tourist Board Tourist Information Service of the Year title.

The prize is one of 16 up for grabs at the White Rose Awards for Tourism.

Board chief executive David Andrews said: “The quality of tourist information in our region this year is outstanding.

“It is a testament to the investment and support of councils and private public sector partnerships.

“Providing visitors with information is key to the economic success of our industry and a vital component of the visitor experience.”

The winners will be announced at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham in September.

Tickets for the ceremony and dinner are available by phoning Alison Ruddick on 01904 773333.
