The town hosts the White Rose Classic Car Rally on Sunday May 7.

Classic cars, historic commercial vehicles, buses, coaches and motorcycles will be on show in the town centre.

There will be free rides on classic buses to the nearby Skopos Motor Museum and the bus museum.

And there will be a free draw to win a chauffeur-driven day out in one of the vintage vehicles from the motor museum - with a picnic hamper included.

The prize has been donated by Stephen Battye, managing director of Batley's award-winning Redbrick Mill shopping centre and the motor museum.

The rally is being organised by West Yorkshire Transport Society and Batley and Dewsbury Towns Management.

Towns manager Hilary Thompson said: "The town is looking particularly pretty in bloom this spring - and with the added attraction of these wonderful historic vehicles, it will be at its best for a family fun day out."

Keith Ramsden, of the transport society, said: "Anyone with an historic vehicle is welcome to come along and join the fun."
