IT'S being billed as the best gig in town - and it's back tomorrow.

Big crowds are expected to see an array of bands performing at Ravensknowle Park, Moldgreen.

And it's all free.

Top ska band The Selecter will be headlining the Timeless Festival.

The Selecter, whose hits in the late 70s and early 80s included On My Radio and Missing Words, go on stage at 1pm.

It is the second time the free festival is being held after its debut last year, when an estimated 2,500 visitors turned up.

Two stages will be set up in the historic park, playing music between noon and 9.30pm.

Festival co-ordinator Pat Fulgoni, who also runs the local record label Chocolate Fireguard, said: "We've got some fantastic bands and it's the last chance for a spot of summer madness.

"On offer is a diverse line-up from 50s jazz through to modern urban and dance genres."

The £25,000 festival is paid for by Kirklees Council and the Dalton, Rawthorpe and Moldgreen Regeneration Programme (Dram), with extra cash coming from West Yorkshire Police.

The line-up includes Huddersfield-based soul funk band Kava Kava and Dalton hip-hop outfit Practical Headz.
