A KNIT and natter event in Huddersfield promoted the counselling work of the Samaritans.
Volunteers organised the ‘knitathon’ this week as part of the national organisations’s 24/7 Day.
It aimed to mark the fact that the charity offers counselling 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Knitters visited the Head of Steam pub in St George’s Square, Sainsbury’s Shore Head store and several other spots throughout the town, encouraging people to sit and knit a while and chat.
Kelly Bull, the publicity officer for Huddersfield Samaritans, who are based in New North Parade in the town centre, said: “It was all about raising awareness of the service.
“We and members of the public did enough knitting to spell out the word Samaritans in letters.”
