THE family members who survived the horrific Birkby firebomb attack are considering their future.

The three people who escaped when a gang of arsonists attacked their home now have to decide what to do with the property and whether to stay in Huddersfield.

The Osborne Road house was kept in its firebombed state, in case the jury wanted to visit it as part of the trial.

The case ended yesterday, with long jail sentences for three men.

The house will probably be sold soon.

"It is too upsetting and too emotional for the family to go back to," said Muhammad Shaffique, who escaped from the blazing house with his father, Mr Abdul Aziz Chishti, and sister Siddiqah.

"We lived there for 14 years and my brother, Ateeq, who was killed in the fire, grew up there."

The future base of the family is uncertain. "We have no peace of mind. We are upset at what has happened to us," said Mr Chishti.

Meanwhile, Clr Mehboob Khan, who has been helping the family, praised the family and local community.
