A HEARTBROKEN family were today preparing for the funeral of their beautiful daughter who died in an horrific car crash in Huddersfield.

Jade Rice, 17, who was living on Sherwood Avenue at Bradley, was killed in the crash on Bradley Road last Sunday which killed Daniel Atkinson, also 17, as well.

Jade, originally from Halifax, had enrolled on a hairdressing course at Calderdale College in the town last week and was looking to the future.

Now her mother, Elaine Rolls, stepfather Barry Noble, of Savile Park, Halifax, father Ian Rice and stepmother Gillian Rice, of Lee Mount, Halifax, have to face her funeral on Wednesday, along with Jade's twin, Ian, and brother and sister Michael, 23, and Zoe Rolls, 21.

Mr Noble said his stepdaughter was very much loved by all her family and friends.

He added: "Elaine is distraught and doesn't know what to do with herself. Jade's father is pretty much the same."

Jade had spent time with both her parents, but was living in Huddersfield temporarily and was due to return to her mother's.

Mr Noble added: "Jade could be a bit of a typhoon, but was not malicious and had a sense of humour that was her own.

"Recently, her whole attitude had changed. She had started to mature and was giving advice to her brothers."

Mr Noble and Elaine dropped Jade off in Huddersfield the day before the crash - the last time they saw her.

The two teenage victims were passengers in a silver Toyota which smashed into a lamp-post on Bradley Road early on Sunday.

Jade's funeral will be at St Jude's Church at Savile Park at noon on Wednesday.

The family have asked for cash gifts in lieu of flowers for Children With Leukaemia.

Mr Noble said: "Jade would have liked us to support a children's charity. She was a caring girl."
