THE father of a 13-year-old schoolboy who collapsed and died in a park also died suddenly as a teenager.
Kyle Thompson died shortly after collapsing in a park in Sowerby Bridge on Tuesday evening.
His father, Richard Reeve, died just months before Kyle was born in 1993 from a heart defect. Tests are ongoing to see if Kyle – a pupil at Ryburn Valley High School – had the same condition.
It is understood he had fainted several times in recent years, but tests had failed to find a reason.
Kyle would have been 14 on April 19 .
Headteacher, Ian Adam, said: “The school community is shocked and some of our students are very upset.
“He was a typical lad who had made friends, although he had not been with us very long and a lot of them are very upset. We are supporting them.’’
Kyle was playing football in Allan Park with friends when he collapsed.
