AWARD-winning butcher Andrew Jones was left pie-eyed when his wife was transformed by fashion gurus Trinny and Susannah.

Forget all the jokes about mutton dressed as lamb and dolled up like a dog's dinner.

Brave Linda Jones has bared all her fashion faux pas to appear in a Christmas special of the popular BBC show What Not to Wear.

Out went a Dallas-style gold patterned blouse from the 1980s and in came a glamorous aubergine satin number with corset-style top and long skirt.

"Andrew said I looked like a million dollars," said Linda, 42.

"He said I wore too much black, but I'm not a frump.

"The end result was absolutely fantastic."

Mum-of-three Linda, a registered nurse at the Elland BUPA hospital and also part-time in her husband's Marsh shop, was among a group of five butchers' wives chosen to take part in the special show which will be screened on Friday at 8.30pm.

They were put in the spotlight before attending the annual dinner of the Federation of Yorkshire Butchers in October.

But Linda, speaking in her dog-walking garb of green wellies, Andrew's old track suit bottoms, woolly hat and jumper, admitted to being a touch apprehensive before baring all in the 360° mirror, which is an integral part of the show.

"I felt physically sick. I thought `My God, why did I ever agree to this?'," said Linda, of Ridge View Drive, Birkby.

"They said I could wear a swimsuit rather than bra and pants, but I thought what's the difference on national television before millions of viewers?"

But she was nevertheless delighted to have been given the opportunity to take part.

"I felt on a real high. It was such an opportunity. It was great to get everything done for a special night, hair, nails and make-up.

"When you're busy you just don't have time. It's easier just to throw on a pair of jeans. But people who know me really well have said I'm not a typical candidate for the show."
