Kirkburton-based Applied Language Solutions received the award from accountancy firm KPMG.

The trophy is presented to firms which were formed within the past three years.

Applied Language Solutions has grown rapidly since its formation two years ago by managing director Gavin Wheeldon.

Recently, the firm won the tender to translate a 15,000-word report on industrial development from English into French and Spanish.

The report, produced by the UN's Industrial Development Organisation, examines how far developing countries have narrowed the poverty gap with wealthier nations.

Applied Language Solutions has 20 days to complete the task.

The firm had to show that its translators could handle text dealing with economic and development issues and documents with tables and figures.
