Travellers have set up camp at a Huddersfield retail park.

More than 20 caravans were parked up at the car park at the Leeds Road retail park.

The vans, along with a number of cars and lorries, were outside the former Comet warehouse which closed down two years ago.

One local resident said: “They arrived late on Thursday night and filled the car park outside the shop.

“I was a bit concerned because a number of their children were running in and around the car park which is very busy”.

The car park is part of a 700-space area serving retailers including B&Q Warehouse, Argos, Staples, Harveys, Oak Furniture Land, Maplin and ScS.

A spokesman for the company running the car park said they were taking steps to get the travellers evicted.
