A COLLEGE chief has paid a warm tribute to a lecturer killed in a motorcycle tragedy.

Gerry Stephen Fenwick-White, 38, died when his motorcycle crashed at Lofthouse, near Wakefield.

The crash was in an intersection tunnel linking the M1 southbound at Junction 42 with the M62 westbound at 2.40am on Easter Monday.

No other vehicle was involved.

Mr Fenwick-White, who lived in Huddersfield, lectured at Huddersfield Technical College.

He taught the BTEC first diploma in drama, music theatre and dance.

College principal Chris Sadler said: "Gerry was bright, energetic and totally committed to students and staff in the performing arts section.

"His contribution to the high standards achieved was immense.

"Our thoughts are with his wife, family and many, many friends.

"They, the staff and students have all suffered a tragic and untimely loss.

"Gerry leaves a big gap, but a wealth of fond and happy memories. He will be greatly missed."

The funeral is at Huddersfield Crematorium at 2.30pm next Wednesday.
