Tributes have been paid to a Huddersfield child abuse lawyer who was killed in a crash in Shepley on Monday night.

Catherine Taylor-True, 51, died when her car careered into a drystone wall after it was in collision with a Range Rover on the A635 Penistone Road.

Ms Taylor-True was driving a silver-coloured Vauxhall Corsa and had turned out of Marsh Lane from Shepley when the crash happened.

Despite attempts by paramedics Ms Taylor-True, known as Cathy, could not be saved.

The news of her death has shocked and saddened family, friends and colleagues who paid tribute to the ‘caring and professional solicitor’.

Ms Taylor-True had worked at Jordan's Solicitors, which has offices in Dewsbury and Wakefield, for five years as a member of the Child Abuse Compensation Department.

A statement from the firm, reads: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Cathy died on 29th September following a road accident.

“She worked at Jordans for over four years in total in our PI abuse department. She was a caring and professional solicitor who always wanted to do her best for her clients and was a valued and popular colleague, a warm and kind hearted person, who will be missed.”

Her role with the firm saw her working with abuse victims from all parts of the country and has successfully claimed compensation for clients against local authorities and other institutions.

She has previously worked with clients who have suffered physical and sexual abuse.

Meanwhile investigations continue to establish the cause of the crash and police are appealing to witnesses to the collision which occurred on Monday at 7.55pm to come forward on 101.
