Parents and staff at a Brighouse nursery are celebrating after a hat trick of top marks.
Toy Box Day Nursery, based at Woodhouse Primary School, has just got its third successive Outstanding grade from Ofsted.
With the tightening of the Ofsted criteria and many settings being downgraded, the inspector told leaders that this latest rating is equivalent to an upgrade.
Manager Anna Yazarlou said: “We are absolutely ecstatic.
“We have had a huge amount of backing from parents and our staff are highly trained and motivated; they always perform at an outstanding level.
“The inspector said that we should see this as an upgrade, that the previous Outstanding would now only be Good with the new tougher framework.”
“It’s all about making a difference to the children and we are constantly striving for more.”
Inspector Rachel Ayo was full of praise for Toy Box: “Children flourish and make excellent progress. They develop excellent levels of confidence and independence, a positive approach to learning and are extremely well prepared for moving on to school.”
“Staff ignite children’s curiosity and their thirst and enthusiasm for learning, with a wealth of first-hand experiences.
“The Early Years Foundation Stage is delivered with exceptional success. This is because of inspirational leadership and a wealth of skills, knowledge and expertise among the staff team.”
She was also very impressed with the level of staff training, leadership and parents’ ‘magnificent’ involvement in children’s learning.
Toy Box was set up in 2005 and has 68 children on its roll and 15 members of staff.
Run by Bright Beginnings Childcare Ltd, it has become the first nursery in Calderdale to gain Level 3 in the Early Years Steps to Quality Scheme.
