WE are cracking down on Huddersfield’s shoplifters.

There has been a worrying spate of crimes from shops in many areas of the town over the past few weeks and we want the public to help us catch them.

These are not trivial crimes.

The thieves are often walking off with goods worth hundreds of pounds which is a real body blow to the many hardworking shopkeepers and retailers we have in this area.

The thieves are often very brazen.

Most shops have some form of security system, including cameras, but the thieves do not seem to make any attempt to hide or to disguise their features.

We are determined to track down these thieves and make sure they are taken before the courts if necessary.

But we need the public’s help and that is why I am urging Examiner readers to look at the people captured in these CCTV images and let us know if they can identify them.

One of them shows a woman at the Tesco store in Westbourne Road, Marsh.

She walked into the shop about 5.30pm on March 5 before pocketing several bottles of wine and leaving the shop without paying.

CCTV in the store has picked out this woman, who we want to speak to about the theft.

We have also uncovered a few more people to whom we would like to talk to after similar offences across Huddersfield this month.

Both the men pictured above were captured on security cameras at the Sainsbury’s store at the Salendine Nook Shopping Centre.

They are people we want to talk to about suspected thefts.

If you know the woman in the dark hooded top, or either of the two men, contact Huddersfield Police via 101.
