ALL things Yorkshire will be celebrated at Standedge Tunnel next week.

On Yorkshire Day - August 1 - a special event will be held at the Standedge Visitor Centre at Tunnel End.

Visitors can go to workshops in the centre's new education rooms.

Subjects will include learning Yorkshire dialect and Yorkshire-style creative writing with Dalton author Craig Bradley.

Visitors will also hear about Yorkshire's most famous unsolved murders from Scunthorpe crime historian and writer Steve Wade, who has lectured in creative writing at Huddersfield University.

Visitors can also enjoy a guided 30-minute boat trip in Standedge Tunnel.

The first Yorkshire Day was held on August 1, 1975, by the Yorkshire Ridings Society, to give the world an accurate representation of the county and its people.
