LORD Sugar’s Apprentices pale into insignificance when compared to the children of Moorlands Primary School.

The pupils have turned a £25 investment into £3,500 – and they’re donating every penny to 19 charities.

Louise Swift, a teacher at the Mount school, said: “As part of our Investors in Pupils we gave each class a £25 budget and they had to use it to raise more.

“Some worked in year groups and some worked within their class. They made a DVD of singing, held bun sales and made tea towels with self portraits. And we had a disco and panto.

“The idea was to build economic and social awareness and it’s been a great competition. They’ve all taken it to their hearts and we’ve been impressed with the response.”

Those to benefit from the children’s hard work include the Candlelighters charity and Martin House Children’s Hospice.
