KIRKWOOD Hospice has opened a new shop.
The shop on Northgate in Almondbury is seen being officially opened
by Yorkshire Television's Calendar presenter Christine Talbot (right) and actor Sandro Squillace. With them is shop manager Kathy Maxwell.
Sandro plays barman Enrique in Channel 4 spin-off show Holloyoaks:
In The City. After they performed the opening customers were welcomed into the
shop with Buck's Fizz and chocolates. The shop is the hospice's 10th.
It will sell a range of second- hand clothing, bric-a-brac and
books. All the cash raised will go to the Dalton hospice, which provides
free care for people with life-threatening illnesses. Ms Maxwell said she hoped the shop would become a strong source of
money for the hospice. She added: "I hope the shop will become a real feature of the
Almondbury community, with local people volunteering, giving goods and of course, shopping here."
