Two men have been held by police investigating gun crime.

Both are being quizzed about an alleged attack on a family and a car chase which was followed by gunshots.

Det Chief Insp Steve Snow confirmed that two men had been arrested and were being held in police custody following the incidents which are thought to be connected.

He said: “A 29-year-old man was arrested from an address in Cleckheaton and a 30-year-old was arrested in Odsal, Bradford.

‘‘Both remain in custody on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. The men are also being held on suspicion of robbery.

“This relates to an incident at a property on Conway Crescent, Batley Carr, in which a mother and son were injured on Sunday, September 7.’’

The robber was followed by two more incidents. Just before 6pm last Friday, police received reports of a red Audi being pursued by a silver or grey Volvo along Upper Road, Batley.

They also received reports of one of the passengers allegedly holding a gun, although no shots were fired.

The following day police were called to Conway Crescent after receiving reports of gunshots being heard in the area. Armed police were deployed to the area, but the premises were found to be empty.
