Two men have appeared in court after police uncovered cannabis during a raid of a Dewsbury property.

Chia Azizi, 36, of High Street in Westtown, and Ali Sharifi, 29, of Moorside Avenue, Dewsbury, pleaded guilty to possession of the class B drug.

Kirklees magistrates heard that on February 10 police executed a search warrant at Azizi’s address.

It revealed various small quantities of cannabis, prosecutor Alex Bozman said.

They included a bag containing the drug found in Azizi’s jacket. Sharifi also had five cannabis roll ups in a cigarette packet.

Both men told police that they had a heavy cannabis habit. Azizi said he spent up to £20 a day on the drug.

Magistrates sentenced both men to nine months of drug rehabilitation with 15 days of activities. They each have to pay £80 fine, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
