Two men were being quizzed tonight after shots were fired near a children’s centre in Dalton .
Police were called to the junction of Holays and Harpe Inge just after 3pm on Tuesday to reports of gunfire.
The shooting followed a crash involving several vehicles and a blue Renault Clio was abandoned at the scene.
No one was hurt but the shots were fired within 100 yards of a children’s centre, causing fear in the local community.
Few details have been released about what happened but an investigation was launched by West Yorkshire Police’s specialist Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
A police spokesman said that two Huddersfield men, aged 19 and 24, had been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and were being interviewed.
