Police are appealing for witnesses after two unprovoked and violent attacks in Huddersfield within a day of each other.

The victims were assaulted and in both cases suffered facial injuries.

The most recent was a particularly nasty attack and happened between 2.30am and 3am in the early hours of Saturday in Railway Street, Huddersfield town centre.

Three men approached a 31-year-old man and were verbally abusive before punching and kicking him. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to head, face and shoulder injuries.

The first suspect is a white man in his early 20s, around 5ft 5ins tall, of large build with short, dark brown hair. The second suspect is also white and of a similar age. He is between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short, blond hair.

The third suspect is similar to the second man, but has dark hair.

Det Con Shaun Topham said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or saw men matching the suspects’ descriptions in the area around the time of the offence.”

The second incident was a robbery which took place just over a day earlier at around half past midnight on Friday morning.

A 61-year-old man was outside a flat on Park Drive, Greenhead, when he was approached by two men. They assaulted him and made off with his wallet. The suspects who are described as white and wearing dark clothing. Det Con Andy Clayton, from Kirklees CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack which saw the victim treated for facial injuries in hospital.

“CCTV enquiries are being undertaken and we are calling on any witnesses or anyone with information about this serious incident to come forward.
