Two men who allegedly faked immigration documents to remain in Huddersfield from Pakistan have been arrested and face deportation.

Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers carried out an intelligence-led visit to the Posh Nosh takeaway in Queen Street South, Huddersfield, on Friday and carried out checks on staff.

A 32-year-old man from Pakistan was found to have overstayed his visa, and a 35-year-old man from Pakistan was discovered to be a failed asylum seeker. Both men were arrested.

The 35-year-old is now detained pending his removal from the UK. The 32-year-old has since claimed asylum, and is currently detained while the claim is considered.

If he is found to have no right to remain in the UK he will face removal.

A spokesman for the Home Office said: “Posh Nosh will be served with a civil penalty notice for employing the two illegal workers.

“This means the employer will be fined up to £10,000 per illegal worker unless evidence is provided that the correct right to work checks were carried out.

“Both offenders originally provided false details in an effort to evade detection but their real identities were discovered using fingerprint scanners.”
