FIRECREWS had to cut two drivers free from their cars after an accident last night.

The crash, which left both injured, happened on Penistone Road, Birdsedge, just before 6pm.

A woman driving a dark grey VW Golf GTI was believed to be turning right when she collided with a blue Ford Focus.

Her car then ploughed into a nearby garden wall with the Focus believed to be jammed in the side of it, leaving the male driver trapped inside.

Lorraine Baker, who lives in the nearby house, said: “We felt the vibrations of the impact.

“My son Danny was sitting in the front room and he shouted to say a car had knocked down the corner of our wall.”
