Welcome to the Huddersfield Examiner's breaking news service.

There were reports of delays on the M62 this morning.

A tanker broke down on the westbound carriage near to junctions 22 and 23 leading to the closure of two lanes. This had a major effect on traffic on Rishworth Moor.

A lane was also closed eastbound near to junction 26 for Chain Bar earlier due to a broken down car, although traffic soon eased.

Traffic has now eased in the incident after lanes were re-opened at 12.30pm.

  • Traffic officers arrived on site and the tanker has now been moved onto the hard shoulder

Carriage beginning to clear

We’re now being advised that travel time is 40 minutes as lanes have re-opened.

The road is looking a lot clearer already, although I can’t say the same for the skies up on’t moors!

11-mile tailbacks

Google Traffic reports that the lanes are due to be closed until 1.30pm. That means traffic is unlikely to begin to ease for at least an hour.

Not liking the look of that thick red line...that’s 11 miles!
