The M62 is currently closed down to one lane heading eastbound after an accident at Rishworth Moor.
Traffic officers closed two lanes of the carriageway near to junction 23 following the accident this morning (Friday).
Traffic is currently tailing back towards Rochdale.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the motorway and drive carefully this morning due to extra surface water on the roads from heavy rain.

Looks like all’s running smooth again on the M62.
All lanes are open and delays have cleared.
Surface water contributed to accidents
Motorway Martin says both accidents were caused by extra surface water from the heavy rain:

Highways England say all lanes have now re-opened.
A spokesperson said:
The road is now back open. There were two incidents on the carriageway, one just before Scammonden Bridge at 7.38 involving one vehicle. The other was just after the bridge shortly later involving two vehicles.
Both accidents have been recovered and moved onto the hard shoulder.

Highways England are now saying there is an oil spillage on the carriageway. Traffic officers are on route to recover the scene.
