Two men have been arrested in connection with a nasty attack which left a man with serious head injuries.

Detective are continuing to investigate the incident which happened on Saturday night when two or three men entered a house in Slaithwaite armed with baseball bats.

The gang – who were wearing ski masks – smashed their way into a house on Manchester Road, Slaithwaite and confronted a man and a woman who were in the home watching TV.

The man was hit over the head as he tried to defend himself.

He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment for a serious head wound and is now recovering at home.

The woman was not injured.

Police are treating the incident as a ‘targeted attack’ in an attempt to steal from the property.

Det Insp Mark Walker, of Huddersfield CID, said: “Two men have been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Manchester Road, Slaithwaite on Saturday at 6.15pm.

“Both men remain in custody and will be interviewed in due course.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
