TWO girls missing for 16 days have been found safe and well in Huddersfield.

Isha Dawkins, aged nine, and Amanda Jeffrey, 13, were discovered at an address in the town last night.

Their heavily-pregnant carer Eileen Dawkins, 23, was also found in Huddersfield yesterday.

A spokesman for Calderdale Council said: "We'd like to thank the public for their co-operation."

However, he added that Mrs Dawkins's two-year-old daughter Portia, also missing, has not yet been located.

"We are still seeking the third child," he confirmed.

All three children vanished from their home in Elland on Thursday, February 26.

Mrs Dawkins disappeared at the start of this week, sparking a country-wide police hunt.

There were fears the four could have travelled to London and would even attempt to leave the UK.

An officer at the Halifax police Child Protection Unit said Eileen was found at a different address to the two children and that Portia, who was born in Huddersfield, was at neither location.

A police spokeswoman commented: "We are actively looking for Portia and no charges have been brought against anybody in relation to the inquiry."

Both Isha and Amanda are now with Calderdale Social Services and police said both were well.

The youngsters were made subjects of an interim care order by Calderdale Council which means they will now be looked after by social services.

Speaking to the Examiner yesterday, Mrs Dawkins said she went into hiding when Calderdale Social Services began legal moves to take her children from her.

Allegations levelled against Mrs Dawkins led to the action.

She said she wanted to keep the family together while police inquiries continued into those allegations.

Mrs Dawkins is the stepmother to Isha and sister-in-law of Amanda.

She said her husband, Vasal Dawkins, went home in Jamaica in January having spent four years in Britain.

Portia is of mixed race with short hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with any information about her whereabouts should contact Calderdale Council on 01422 393884 or police on 01422 337059.
