YORKSHIRE’S air ambulance has been given a £1,000 cash boost by a tyre trader.

The cheque was presented by North Eastern Tyre and Autotrader (NETA), who operate the Hi-Q chain throughout Yorkshire.

The presentation was made at the air ambulance’s base at Leeds Bradford Airport after a string of fundraising efforts by the vehicle care specialists. The company raised much of the cash through donations at its specialist auto stand at this summer’s Great Yorkshire Show.

NETA’s Debbie Horton said the company was at the heart of preventing accidents as safe vehicles were less likely to crash.

She said: “Defective brakes and bald tyres for instance, can result in serious accidents and as such, NETA urges drivers to check their cars are safe before travelling on long journeys.

Tony Doveston, of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said: “Donations from businesses like NETA are the life blood of the YAA, without them we simply wouldn’t be able to continue to save lives.

“In order to maintain our service we need to raise £3,700 every day, so any donations are gratefully received.”
