CHILD killers should be hanged, a Yorkshire politician demanded last night.

Euro-MP Godfrey Bloom is backing a call to bring back the death penalty.

Yesterday the Government launched a new website allowing people to nominate issues they would like debated in Parliament.

Mr Bloom said last night he was pleased to see more than 1,000 people call for the return of hanging on the website’s first day.

The United Kingdom Independence Party man said: “I am in favour of restoring the death penalty for child and serial killers.

“Child and serial killers are never safe to be released back into society and quite frankly keeping them behind bars till they die is a waste of taxpayers’ money.

“With improvements in science there is virtually no chance of mistaken identity – especially when it comes to serial killers.”

Any issue which attracts 100,000 signatures will go to a special committee of backbench MPs who will decide if the matter should be debated in Parliament.
