EVERY day is Valentine’s day for a Huddersfield couple.
Barry and Maureen Valentine, of Dalton, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Friday.
The couple met at Chinney’s Dance Hall on East Parade in 1954. They married at St Barnabas’ Church in Crosland Moor on September 30, 1961.
Barry, 71, worked as a contract manager for Thatcher’s Furnishings while Maureen was a mender at Crowther’s Mill at Milnsbridge.
She went on to work as a dinner lady and crossing patrol at Dalton Junior and Infants.
Barry said: “Our marriage has been very good, we’ve enjoyed our life together.
“I’m a golfer, so she’s a golf widow which has caused one or two problems!”
The couple are celebrating their anniversary at Dalton Grange with 80 friends and relatives, including sons Garry, 47, Andrew, 45 and grandchildren Adam, 23, Kai, 15, and 12-year-old Alicia.
