LOVE could be in the air for the unattached in Holmfirth on Valentine's Day.

Those looking for love could meet up to 30 dates in one night at a speed dating session.

The Cafe Bar at CragRats Theatre in Dunford Road is hosting the event which includes a champagne reception.

A hot food buffet is also on offer to tickle the tastebuds of ardent romantics.

Caroline Courtney, of CragRats said: "It's the first time we've organised this type of event. This is an alternative Valentine's Day for people who are unattached.

"It aims to provide a bit of romance for single people."

People attending have a few minutes to chat with each suitor before moving onto the next "date".

They give them either thumbs up, thumbs down or a "maybe."

The evening starts at 7.30pm and costs £18.95. Anyone interested in booking should contact the Cafe Bar on 01484 691323.

IT was developed by a Jewish rabbi in New York in 1998 as a way to promote marriage in the Jewish faith.

Sessions are run in all major towns and cities including Huddersfield where Lounge 68 in John William Street has already hosted an event and is due to hold another on February 15.

Questions you should ask on a speed date include:

What kind of work do you do?

What are your hobbies?

Do you have children/pets?

What are three important things I should know about you?

Speed dating has been featured in episodes of Sex in the City and Fraiser.
