Vandals have struck again at a Huddersfield cricket club.

The Examiner reported last week how officials at Edgerton and Dalton Cricket Club were at their wit’s end over vandalism.

Committee man Rodger Massiah, who is responsible for the grounds and facilities at the club in Dalton Fold Road, Dalton, appealed for the damage to stop.

Young people are being blamed for damaging the costly sight screens and nets.

Despite Mr Massiah’s warning to parents there have been more attacks on the sight screens, leaving the lats broken or bent.

Mr Massiah said: “We just want to make another appeal to residents in Dalton to tell their children to stop causing this damage. We’re not a cash rich club by any means.”

Mr Massiah said that if the damage continued the club would be forced to look at security fencing to secure the ground.

An application for funding could be made to Kirklees Council as fencing would cost well over £30,000, he said.

“We don’t want to turn the club into Fort Knox but we might well have to,” he added.
