A YOUNG woman was subjected to a gang rape in Leeds after three men beat up her boyfriend.
In the horrific attack - in a wooded area of Chapel Allerton Park - the 20-year-old woman was held down as the men took it in turn to rape her and sexually assault her.
The ordeal only ended when her boyfriend recovered from being attacked and began searching for her, forcing the men to run off.
The couple were in the park about 7am on Saturday, when the men verbally abused the woman.
Her boyfriend approached to see what was going on and was also verbally abused.
The terrified woman fled into a wooded area.
As she hid, she heard the gang arguing with her boyfriend, then the three men approached her.
A police spokesman said: "The victims have suffered an horrendous ordeal and are understandably traumatised.
"This was a brutal and vicious assault against an innocent, vulnerable young couple."
Police say the woman is extremely distressed and suffered a number of injuries.
Her boyfriend has been treated by a doctor.
A number of people living nearby were alerted to the attack by noise and went to help the couple.
Stephen Wood, 43, found the couple moments after the attackers fled.
He said: "I heard crying and screaming and went to see if I could help."
