They performed in a successful punk rock band and their music has been featured on hit TV shows and MTV.

And now Chris Howarth and Natasha Miller are hoping to drum up trade in a new venture, offering top of the range videography and website design across Kirklees.

Clients already include the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield, the West Riding FA and RRG Toyota.

It has been a natural progression for the couple who, although still very keen on making music, realised the industry was changing.

Chris, 27, went to Heckmondwike Grammar School and Leeds Beckett University where he gained his BSC (Hons).

Natasha, 27, was born and raised in Nottingham and was a vocalist in a punk rock band called Patchwork Grace.

She went on to release an album and tour Europe.

Chris later joined the band and after a few years recording and touring the pair decided to set up their own project called OneGirlOneBoy and went on to have songs feature on the hit series Gotham which was shown on Fox Network in the US, and Channel 5.

They also had tracks appear on MTV, BBC One and in promo campaigns for the likes of Spotify, Nine West, Bobbi Brown cosmetics and River Island.

Chris said: “I met Natasha through music – we played together in bands all over the country.

“We decided to start an electronic duo and it took off pretty well.

“This was huge for us – we had fans from all over the world get in touch with us with messages about how much they love our music which was insane.

“But the music industry is a very hard place to be these days, no-one buys records anymore and there is no money about.

“With the emergence of file sharing everything changed and we decided to continue the music as a hobby and to push our other passion, videography.

“We are so passionate about everything creative. We look at everything in a different light and this takes up all of our time, if it’s filming short films, painting, graphic design or writing music, it’s all consuming in a great way.”

Natasha had been a well respected singer and Patchwork Grace won an award for best female fronted band from Kerrang.

“I love performing – it’s a real passion of mine. It’s like I put on a mask and become someone else, it’s such a release.

“My main influences are people like Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks and David Bowie.”

But Natasha felt the need to turn her creative talents in a new direction.

She said: “Videography is something we have a real buzz for. We are obsessed with films and camera work so we always pick up on the small details.

“We saw this as a natural step for us and since starting HowarthMiller we have worked with some incredible people and companies in the area.”

She said that starting HowarthMiller was a ‘no brainer’.

“I was working as a designer at a PR company at the time, and Chris was doing social media and marketing,” she added.

“We are both huge lovers of film and are very geeky when it comes to production value. We wanted to push this love into a new project.”

The company, based in Cleckheaton, offers video and audio, website design, and design and print services.

The videography is what excites the couple most – and films are a hot topic for the pair.

Natasha added: “We go to the cinema a lot and always come out with different opinions which, as frustrating as it can be, really helps to offer an alternate perspective on things.”

Her favourite films are the Nightmare Before Christmas and Fight Club while Chris prefers Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

As well as offering videography for the commercial market they have added an extra arm to the business in the form of wedding videography.

“Wedding videography is such fun – they are always great days with lovely people,” said Natasha.

“We have the amazing job of capturing people’s magical moments, moments they can share together and show their children and family for the rest of their lives.”

Although they are a very happy couple, Chris and Natasha themselves have no plans to wed.

Natasha said: “It’s strange because we love filming weddings and being part of the day and people say to us it must make you really excited to get married yourselves, and they are surprised to hear it’s something we have no real intention of doing.

“Marriage isn’t for everyone.”
