A VILLAGE'S new post office is finally opening next week.
It will open its doors for business on Wednesday at the Corn Loft Guest House in Woodhead Road, Holmbridge.
The move fills a gap of almost two-and-a-half years since the village's last post office shut.
Planners gave their seal of approval in April to the new addition to the guest house.
But it has taken until now for the arrangements to be finalised.
Guest house owners Trevor Bellamy and wife Kath are setting up the post office.
Mrs Bellamy will be postmistress while her husband concentrates on the guest house.
Mr Bellamy said: "This is a new venture for us and we are really looking forward to it."
They are planning to hold an official opening soon.
The reopening reverses a trend set to lead to the closure of 10 offices in the Huddersfield area.
Post Office spokesman Andy Wright said: "Local MP Kali Mountford was extremely helpful in getting this office reopened.
"We know how vital a role post offices play in communities such as this and we are delighted that this office is opening."
As well as the post office, Mr and Mrs Bellamy are also opening a tea room in their guest house.
The post office will be open from 9am to 2pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
