MOTORISTS are to face more roadworks.
Further closures to the busy A635 Holmfirth Road in New Mill have been announced.
The road will be closed on four weekends, starting in March, as part of a reconstruction project.
The news follows a story in the Examiner last week which highlighted the fact that Huddersfield has been plagued by roadworks on major routes.
The Holmfirth Road closures will start at 10pm on March 5, when the road will be shut from New Mill centre to the junction with Moorcroft Park Drive.
The road will reopen at 6am on March 8.
There will be a diversion via Holmfirth and Honley.
Further closures will be in place on the weekends of March 19 and 26 between the centre of New Mill and Church Street and on April 2 between the centre and Moorcroft Park Drive.
Diversions will be signposted.
Neil Conway, of Kirklees Highways and Transport Services, said: "The work is being done because we are trying to make sure the road is a safer place and to try to slow vehicles down."
The work will involve laying new kerbs, resurfacing the road to improve skid resistance and extending the bridge to include another footpath.
