A MAN needed 29 stitches in head wounds after being injured a mass brawl outside a Huddersfield town centre bar.

Trouble erupted outside the Elements Bar at the end of New Street, close to Chapel Hill, at 2am yesterday.

The 32-year-old Birstall man suffered the serious injuries and was today in a comfortable condition at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Police arrested six people.

A 34-year-old man from Deighton and a 19-year-old Liversedge man were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A 23-year-old Linthwaite man was charged with obstructing police and will appear before Huddersfield Magistrates on June 30.

Two women, one aged 20 from Liversedge and a 23-year-old from Moldgreen, were given £80 police fixed penalty fines for public disorder.

A 23-year-old Fartown man was released without charge.
