A WOMAN from Huddersfield is charged with trying to smuggle a friend into the UK by tricking officials into supplying a visa.
Elisa Claire Byfield, 28, of Aquamarine Drive, Fartown, appeared at Huddersfield Magistrates Court yesterday.
She faced a charge that she tried to obtain a visa by deception between October 16, 2002 and March 21, 2004 for a man who was not an EU citizen.
It is alleged she produced letters and financial documents in a bid to back the claim.
The matter was adjourned until Wednesday September 29.
Byfield was granted unconditional bail.
